Construction has commenced on the Latrobe Valley Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, with Lily D’Ambrosio, Minister for Energy and Resources, in attendance at an event onsite.
David Smales, AusNet Chief Executive Officer, said the project is an example of how AusNet and its delivery partners, such as Tilt Renewables, are working together to drive a more sustainable future in Victoria.
“We have a longstanding presence in the Latrobe Valley community, supporting customers and stakeholders via energy connections and throughout our distribution network, and more broadly through the energy transition,” Smales said.
AusNet and Tilt Renewables have previously worked together to successfully deliver connections for other projects such as the Salt Creek and Dundonnell Wind Farm projects.
AusNet’s connection works are due to be completed by December 2024, with the BESS to be energised in early 2025.
